Dear Property Owner:
I N V I T A T 1 0 N
This letter is being sent to let you know about an upcoming meeting with
neighbors of the Community of Christ Church on 220 East Oak Street. At this
meeting, City staff will be present to provide information and receive feedback
about a proposed use for the facility as a Seasonal Overflow Shelter.
A Seasonal Overflow Shelter is a homeless shelter that allows homeless persons to
stay on its premises overnight generally from the beginning of November though
the end of April. Such a facility is intended to be used if the existing homeless
shelters are at capacity or if a targeted population needs additional sheltering
(women, families, etc.).
This church has been used in the past as a seasonal overflow shelter and the need
is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. By considering the use as a
Seasonal Overflow Shelter, Community of Christ would be eligible for use during
the upcoming winter for up to five years. Before any season where the facility
would be used as a Seasonal Overflow Shelter, a neighborhood meeting would be
scheduled to provide an opportunity for public input on an annual basis.
You received this notice because records from the Larimer County Assessor's
Office indicate you own property near the proposed development site. Because of
the lag time in recordkeeping, or because of rental situations, some neighbors may
be missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbors of the neighborhood meeting
so they can attend.
We look forward to your participation at the neighborhood meeting. Public
comment is encouraged during all phases of the review process. If you have
questions at any time, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely:
/,/A7,.,4
