In order to improve safety and prevent potential accidents with right turning vehicles please provide the following measures; 1) Signs (2) along Horsetooth Road that informs both cyclists and motor vehicles that the bike lane ends - the signs should be spaced to provide sufficient time to acknowledge and prepare, 2) The off-street bike path surface should be treated in a manner to slow cyclists and alert them to their new surroundings, 3) And a sign informing cyclists that they must dismount their bike in the crosswalk (see red lines). Furthermore, the path will serve only one way bike traffic, please narrow the width to aid in the reduction of bike speeds. Steve Olt - Bella Vista new comment Page From: Mark Jackson To: Steve Olt Date: 11 /22/02 12:56PM Subject: Bella Vista new comment Hi Steve, Tom Reiff and David Averill approached me with safety concerns regarding the bike lane/sidewalk configuration on Horsetooth for the Bella Vista project. I have attached their comment as well as put into DMS as a formal comment. This is coming late and I apologize, but they felt strongly that this was a safety issue that could be easily addressed by the applicant. I will forward you accompanying redline comments in inter -office mail today as well. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide you with additional information MJ CC: David Averill; Tom Reiff
