Shelby,
It took as a little to time to track down the original
application submitted by Ridgeview to initially have a
charter school, but during the application process is where
the total enrollment was set.
The number is actually 1290, however, kindergarten students
are counted as half of a regular student because they are
there for only half a day. So, there can be actually 1320
students in the program. Apparently, the school would have
at some point two 30-student kindergarten classes. Bottom
line is; 1290 FTE (full time employees (students));
recognizing that kindergarten children are half of a FTE.
Clear as mud?
The discussion on Monday inferred that the total enrollment
numbers were tied to the building. Again, the enrollment
was designated in the application approved by PSD prior to
any discussions between Ridgeview and the church for the
purchase of the building.
The 810, to the best of my knowledge, is the building
capacity after plan review for the original remodel. In
the district, we use the word "optimum" number. Poudre
High School for example has a design capacity of 1800 for
educational delivery, however the optimum number for
educational delivery is 1700. The actual legal building
capacity is much higher, and that number would equate to
the 810. The school talked about capping their enrollment
at 720. The 720 would equate to PHS's 1700.
So, the number isn't 1360 but really 1290, but with all the
privisos mentioned above, allowing it to max out at 1320.
That should really confuse everyone. :)
