As we discussed, the Poudre School District will proceed under these guidelines unless we hear
differently from you. We are under a tight schedule and the contractor needs to stay on track.
Currently, the irrigation system will be completed and the landscape, as detailed herein, will be in
place the beginning of March.
If this landscape plan changes at any time, we will notify you immediately. Please review the
plan and contact me with any questions or concerns about this proposal.

Intent to alter planting schedule due to drought conditions
As we discussed in our meeting on 1/23/03, the Poudre School District would like to propose an
alternative planting schedule at the new facility due to the drought conditions_ We are a
sustainable school district and we want to be responsible in our use of natural resources. In an
effort to conserve water, we have already changed the amount and type of vegetation we are
going to plant this year on site. With your approval, we would also like to alter the planting of
the streetscape. This includes the grass and trees along Timberline Road and Zephyr Road.
We have attached a drawing detailing the changes we propose. We hi-lited both the areas that we
will be planting this spring AND the areas that will be planted next year. Plantings next year are
dependant on the water supply. The following issues had to be addressed with this plan:
1. The play fields east of the building have to be planted this year so that students have
somewhere to play in the fall. This will also reduce the amount of dust initiating from
our site.
2. The building's energy consumption will be negatively affected if the landscape is not
complete near the building. We also want to reduce the amount of soil tracked into
the building by the students. This means the grass and planters next to the building
will be completed.
3. There will be a significant amount of student traffic across the plaza at the main entry.
The landscaped areas need to be completed to reduce the amount of mud/dirt tracked
into the building after students cross a vacant planter.
4. Streetscape: We plan to complete the grass and trees between the sidewalk and street
on the corner of Timberline and Zephyr this spring. Depending on water availability
this fall and spring 2004, the remaining grass and trees along Zephyr will be planted
spring of 2004.
5. Any areas NOT receiving vegetation this spring will be treated with a tackifier. This
will help in reducing the loss of topsoil and it will also reduce dust generated from the
site.
