Re: LPT Follow-up: Wood Street Second Annexation
Questions presented:
1. Why is 832 Wood Street being annexed?
2. Why is annexing the property a good idea?
Responses to questions presented:
• This annexation will fulfill the City's obligation to annex enclaves into the City as
expeditiously as possible per Section 8(A) of the Growth Management Area
Intergovernmental Agreement with Larimer County, which states:
It is the City's intent to annex properties within the GMA as expeditiously as possible
consistent with the terms of this Agreement.
• This annexation will mean future development on the site will have to satisfy the
requirements of the Fort Collins Land Use Code.
• All future development as a result of this annexation will also have to pay impact fees
that fund local streets, parks, police services, schools, and a host of other essential City
functions.
• This annexation will provide further clarity for the provision of emergency services.
Currently, the site is served by the County Sheriff despite being in the heart of Fort
Collins. Upon annexation, the site will be served by Fort Collins Police, which will allow
for more consistency of services and clarity for the dispatcher since the site is surrounded
by property in the City of Fort Collins.
