The main subject of his story is the Union Station project just west of College and South.of Willox. This project is currently in the City's review process. I indicated Emma McArdle was the contact for information on the Union Station project and Matt Baker as the contact for further information on the North College Marketplace and roadway improvements projects. The following are the key points I spoke with him about. Gave description of the North College Phase I project and the improvements. I indicated I would get back to him with the cost of the North College Phase I improvements project. The North College Improvements Project Phase II is funded by the Building on Basics '/ cent sales tax and along with federal funding. Current funding is approximately $5.6 Million. The project will move forward with a phased implementation approach. As funding becomes available other phases can be implemented. The City with the NFCBA and CDOT have collaborated and developed a partnership and are moving forward with the project. The project area starts just north of the Poudre River bridge near Vine drive and continues to the Hickory/Conifer Intersection. The project includes safety improvements for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, large trucks and passenger vehicles. Improvements include pedestrian and bicycle facilities, curb and gutter, consolidation of driveways, and storm water improvements. Improving safety, operations and functionality are the primary goals. Improving aesthetics is also important. We are excited to be moving forward with the NFCBA and CDOT with this important community project. We just completed the first of three open houses last week which introduced the project. The next open house is scheduled for May 21st where we will be presenting alternatives, the third open house is scheduled for July 8th where we will present the recommended alternative. file://C:\Documents and Settings\emcardle\Local Settings\Temp\XPgrpwise\49E7475AFC... 4/23/2009
