Re: Offsite grading for Martinez P.U.D.; FL Collins, Colorado
Dear Mr. Leach,
It is the understanding of the Park Planning and Development Division of the City of Fort
Collins that a certain amount of grading will be required on the Lee Martinez Park. property in
conjunction. with the development of the Martinez P.U.D. project: The grading is required in
order to convey stonnwater runoff through Lee Martinez Park from upstream areas.
I have reviewed the preliminary plans and discussed the necessity of off site grading with
personnel frorn Shear Engineering, the Stormwater Utility and the City Engineering Department.
I have also informed Brian Shear. of Shear Engineering Corporation that the Parks Department
would rather not have the majority of the site runoff sheet flowing onto the park property. The
Parks and Recreation Department. would Like to see diversion swales at the base of the north
sloping hill. that can intercept the runoff from Martinez P.U.D. and divert it around the ballfields.
I have also indicated our concern about ADA access issues associated with the park property and
the existing restrooln.
Based on these discussions, I feel that the Park Planning and Development Division will have no
problem allowing the grading to be completed on the park property. Final approval of the offsite
grading, will be subject to the review of the final construction drawings for Martinez P.U.U. by
the Stormwater Utility, Engineering and the Park Planning and Development Division.
The parks department is also willing to provide easements that may be required for this offsite
grading.
