Date: Tue, Mar 13, 2001 6:05 PM Subject: Off -site construction of "double lefts" at the Harmony/Ziegler intersection Bob, As a follow up to my telephone message this afternoon, City Transportation Staff has met within the past few hours to discuss the Harmony Road and Ziegler Road intersection, more specifically as it relates to dual lefts on southbound Ziegler to eastbound Harmony Road. Staff has completed the review of the HP traffic study and subsequent addendums, including the recent addendum dated March 9th 2001. As the need for dual left turn lanes is illustrated in the traffic study, the City feel strongly that with the first phase of HP's PDP, offsite improvements need to be made by HP to ensure that dual left turns for southbound Ziegler onto eastbound Harmony Road are constructed. With the improvements along Harmony Road by HP as part of their first phase, as well as the improvements shortly to occur on Preston Center that include dual left turn movements on northbound Ziegler to westbound Harmony, it would be prudent to have the construction of the dual lefts to occur concurrently and "match" on both sides of Ziegler intersecting Harmony Road. In this manner, all of the improvements occuring on Harmony Road can be accomplished at about the same time, minimizing inconvenience to the area. The construction of dual lefts will help alleviate future traffic movements in this area generated by HP's prescene and will be of benefit to employees of HP. The addition of the dual left to Harmony and Ziegler should be added to the Harmony Road design and coordination should be done with CDOT and the City on this matter as is currently taking place with Preston Center. It is again understood that improvements along Harmony Road have been separated from the project for the purposes of the P&Z hearing this Thursday. Let me know of any concerns regarding this matter.
