Subject: annexation petition
Hi, Steve - I checked with Steve Roy, and it sounds like he is OK with our office signing off on petitions
even if they are a voluntary, private party petitioner, but we don't want it to get to the point that we are
doing all of them. It sounds like this is a situation where the City really wants this property annexed, and
this may be the only way to make it happen, but to the extent that future petitioners can be told to have
their own attorneys certify their petitions, we'd prefer that.
I am a little nervous about the fact that the petitioner here is reluctant to have his own attorney certify his
petition. If it is just a question of cost, I would understand that, but it makes me wonder if there is some
problem with the petition or with the ownership of the property involved that he is trying to conceal. I would
really appreciate any further information you can get on why he doesn't want to have his attorney certify it.
I'll see you tomorrow,
Ingrid
