Terracon Consultants Western, Inc., Empire Division has completed a geotechnical engineering
exploration for the proposed Justice Center located in Block 31, City of Fort Collins, Colorado. This study
was performed in general accordance with our proposal number D2096092 dated April 25, 1996.
The results of our engineering study, including the boring location diagram, laboratory test results, test
boring records, and the geotechnical recommendations needed to aid in the design and construction of
foundations and other earth connected phases of this project are attached.
J The soils at the site consist of clayey sands and sandy lean clay underlain by well -graded sand with gravel
and cobbles. The upper subsoils are overlain by asphalt pavement and gravel base and underlain by
siltstone-claystone bedrock found from 11 to 1S feet beneath the ground surface. Groundwater was
encountered at relatively shallow depths of 6'/: to 10'/z feet below the surface.
Based on the anticipated multi -story construction, it is recommended the structures be supported by a
drilled pier foundation system founded on the firm bedrock stratum. Complete dewatering systems will be
1 required where basements are constructed at the site. Further details are provided in this report.
