HomeMy WebLinkAboutRIGDEN FARM - OVERALL DEVELOPMENT PLAN - 56-98B - CORRESPONDENCE - TRANSPORTATION ISSUERidden ODP Transportation Issues: • Drake/CR9 intersection spacing at least every 660'. • NC potential intersection location (660' or less requirement) The old remaining portions of Drake and CR9 will need a discription of what happens k _ PJb(f to them. Maybe Drake will remain public, and CR9 becomes the ownership of the %gravel company. This may be an ODP issue, or maybe a phase 2 issue. These issues Lshould be addressed, with Sheri Wamhoff. -Pots t ,t • It appears that pedestrians and bicycles traveling north on County Road 9 who want f to make the connection to the Poudre River trail are required to take the new curved road out of the way to the west before connecting to a trail accessing the Poudre River trail system. A more direct connection should be provided. • It is recommended/required that any bicycle/pedestrian paths that follow the alignment of the old portions of Drake Rd and County Road 9 must be separated from the roadway because there will continue to be a high number of cement and gravel trucks using those roadways. • It is recommended/required that the any new pedestrian/bicycle path that connects roughly follows the old alignment of County Road 9 be located on the west side of the Fossil Creek Inlet Canal. • nc rac the Traffic Operations Engineer, is not inclined to approve the Custer Drive traffic signal location when it is less than'[ mile from the major intersection of Timberline and Drake. Although the Land Use Code specifies that potentially r signalized intersections must be no further apart than'/4 mile along arterials, it does Ue not address the minimum spacing requirement. The minimum spacing requirement is Wl A decided on a case by case basis. Eric Bracke has the authority to specify the minimum requirements. He weighs several factors when deciding what that minimum spacing should be. Dialog should be opened with him to determine what factors lead him to his decision, and discuss with him if there are any other factors that can be influenced to allow the proposed 1000' spacing to occur. • There are some lane and median concerns listed on the Traffic Operations comment sheet. Be sure to coordinate which of these concerns must be addressed at the ODP stage, and which can be addressed when the Timberline street improvement project comes in. cov-C —- -n* o v\ \W4)i- C ( D 4-G (,- 01a CPT P ► wLfk 64c CIIAIA 5 Troy Jones - Re: Rigden Farm - Supplemr -1al information Page 1 From: Kathleen Reavis To: Bob Blanchard, Dave Stringer, Eric Bracke Date: 3/1 /99 10:40AM Subject: Re: Rigden Farm - Supplemental information Matt is also working on revising the bike/ped LOS portion of his study related to the phasing plans for the project. - Just an FYI. If there's not a signal at Custer - is there another location that you would agree to for a ped zing between Vermont & Timberline? >>> Eric Bracke 03/01/99 10:20AM >>> FYI. have asked for Supplemental information concerning the Rigden Farm TIS. In particular, I am not inclined to approve a traffic signal location less than 1/4 mile on a major arterial (Custer Drive). I have asked Matt Delich to provide a signal progression analysis as part of the TIS.
