3.8.13.C.14 The building is of historic status and, as stated above, has been approved by the advance -
planning department.
This installation is designed to provide greatly improved coverage to the businesses and residents in the
northeast portion of Fort Collins. We feel that the use of the smokestack allows us to you an existing
structure to meet these needs. In addition, the locating of antennae on the stack allows the building to
remain economically viable while maintaining its historic designation.

RE: 1133 Riverside (Nextel: East Fort Collins CO-0264)
Dear Ted:
Attached, please find an application and five sets of drawings for an administrative Minor Amendment
approval for Nextel antennae and related equipment at 1133 Riverside. Nextel holds a low power wireless
FCC license for personal communications in the 806-821 and 851-866 MAZ ranges. These frequencies are
highly regulated and licensed by the FCC.
Our proposal is for the attachment of reinforcing bands around the smokestack at 1133 Riverside. The
bands serve multiple purposes. One, they reinforce the smokestack. Two, the bands will be painted to add
an architectural feature to the stack. Three, they will provide Nextel a place to mount to so as to avoid
penetrations on the stack. Six panel antennae will be mounted to the bands at the top of the stack at a height
of 74'. The panel antennae are approximately 10" in width and 48" in length. The support equipment will
be located in an interior room adjacent to the smokestack.
The following are responses to the items set forth in the City of Fort Collins code section 3.8.13.
3.8.13.A Our proposal is to mount on the existing smokestack at 1133 Riverside.
3.8.13.B The smokestack is capable of accommodating additional carriers.
3.8.13.C.1 Not Applicable
3.8.13.C.2 On Tuesday, May 29s, 2001, Karen McWilliams of the City of Fort Collins advance -
planning department gave her verbal approval of the Nextel proposal.
3.8.13.C.3 The antennae do not exceed the height of the smokestack and the equipment is to be
located in the warehouse.
