It has been determined that Custom Tabs and Specialties uses two products in the die -cutting and foil
stamping process. One product is a plate finisher/preservative that is water missible and non-flammable
and is not considered hazardous material. A description of the second product follows. (The information
concerning these products has been taken directly from the manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheets.)
Varn Ecolo-Clean 35 blanket and roller wash
This product is purchased in a metal 5-gallon can and contains petroleum naptha. It is water emusible, has a
flash point of 200 degF, and extinguishing media needs to be foam, alcohol foam, CO2, or dry chemical.
Custom Tabs has dry chemical extinguishers on site.
Small spills can be cleaned up with soap, water and a mop. Larger spills, possibly up to 5 gallons, would be
cleaned up using oil -dry absorbent, transfered to a closed container, then disposed of using a licensed
waste hauler. The likelihood of such a release is small to none due to good storage practices. The 5-gallon
container will be stored in a metal cabinet with self -closing hinges and located just inside the back door. A
new 5-gallon can of roller wash is purchased when there is less than one gallon remaining in current
5-gallon container. This is the same basic product that all print shops use as a roller and blanket wash.
Employees have been instructed in how to cope with both small and larger spills as part of their initial
training.
There are no other known hazardous materials being introduced to the site.
This report has been reviewed by Tim Gifford, Poudre Fire Authority, and revised in accordance with his
