As Voicestream Wireless continues to meet the demand of subscriber growth, site design and location become very critical. Currently, the Parkwood Lake area, near the intersection of Drake and Lemay, is poorly served by Voicestream Wireless. Preliminary candidates were identified. The Scotch Pines clock tower did not produce adequate coverage for our objective. A drive test of the candidate was performed at 40 ft. The low antenna centerline of this candidate caused undesirable results for our coverage objective due to the surrounding trees and residential structures, additional sites would be necessary to meet system requirements. The existing high voltage tower located just west of the intersection at Drake and Lemay was identified as the primary candidate. PRPA requirements for location on a power pole place our antennas on top of the pole. Drive test data results show the coverage objectives are met by locating on the power pole. Voicestream Wireless and US West Wireless use two different digital wireless technologies in which individual sites necessitate different designs. In addition, individual site coverage of each wireless carrier requires varying parameters to meet in - fill objectives to accommodate networks needs. However, radio frequency fundamentals prove additional height unmistakably provides a larger footprint for coverage from any carrier.
