Cherry Street
Troy,
The City Facility Department, Utilities, and Traffic Operations are working together and with the Martinez
Park Neighborhood to reduce the impact of city vehicles on Cherry Street. Traffic has counted the
number of city vehicles during the course of the day that utilize Cherry Street. Between the equipment
shop, utility department, and traffic operations, Cherry Street is,frequently used, by city employees.
Cherry Street is classified as a collector on the Master Street Plan but functions as an arterial. This is due
the fact that Vine Street does not exist between Wood Street and College, Avenue.
At this point in time we are probably going to request our employees to use Laporte Avenue as much as
possible during the course of the day. One of the main issues is that the utility vehicles (including large
trucks)will then be forced to enter the downtown area. This is not necessarily desirable either.
Let me know if you have any other questions regarding this issue.
Kind Regards,
Eric L. Bracke, P.E.
