Re: Train Depot
Sorry I am unable to be at the meeting tonight in person, but I have reviewed the
plans for the addition to the depot and would like you to consider this input.
The depot is one of our major significant buildings and I am very concerned with
the City's proposed addition. To this date, the depot remains intact and much like
it has been since it was built. We fought long and hard to save this building as
well as the dock and I believe the proposed plan is folly. The addition obscures
the gull roof and certainly changes the building drastically. If there were no other
options, I would be more inclined to consider this, but there are many other more
appropriate places that the bike library and repair shop could be built without
changing this important building so drastically.
I believe the City should be held to at least the same standards as a private
developer and, in reality, should be setting a good example. I urge you to deny
the building of an addition to this property!
Thanks, guys!
Jennifer.
