City of Fort Collins
August 30, 1999
Dear Resident:
On Monday, Septemper 13, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in conference room A & B at 281 N.
College Avenue*, the City of Fort Collins Current Planning Department will conduct a
neighborhood information meeting to discuss two (2) development proposals in your
neighborhood.
The first development proposal is for a new 70,00 square foot, 3 story office building located
at the northwest corner of Mason Street and Laporte Avenue, which will house municipal
government offices. Troy Jones will be the project planner on this project.
The second development proposal is for the renovation of, and addition to, the existing
Colorado & Southern railroad depot at the northeast corner of Mason Street and Laporte
Avenue to convert it into a transit center. This transit center will include operations for ticketing,
lockers, related offices, as well as serving as a hub for transfort, private bus companies, and
taxis. Ron Fuchs will be the project planner on this project.
What can you expect from attending the neighborhood meeting? The purpose of a
neighborhood meeting is to open a line of communication between the developer and the
neighbors. This is the forum through which the neighbors can express their concerns, city staff can
explain the development review process, and the developer can explain to the neighbors what
he/she is intending to do with the project and answer questions from the neighbors. Meeting
minutes are taken by city staff, and become part of the project file. Neighborhood meetings are
typically scheduled early in the project, before any design decisions have been finalized so the
flexibility still exists for the input of neighbors to perhaps be integrated into the design.
The list of affected property owners for this neighborhood information meeting is derived from
official records of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy
and record keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property owners may have been
missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending meeting so all neighbors may have
the opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend this meeting, written comments are welcome.
If you have arty questions regarding this matter, please call our office at 221-6750.
