Geotechnical Engineering Report Terracon
Autosound Installation Building - Mason Street
Fort Collins, Colorado
Terracon Project No. 20005067
The results of field exploration and laboratory testing completed for this study indicate that
the fill materials at the site have low expansive potential and are suitable for support of
_ proposed foundations. The soils at anticipated foundation bearing depth have moderate
load bearing capabilities.
Based on the subsurface conditions encountered and the type of construction proposed, it
is recommended the proposed building be supported by conventional -type spread footings.
Conventional slab -on -grade construction is considered feasible at the site provided the
recommendations set forth in the report are followed.
Other design and construction recommendations, based upon geotechnical conditions, are
presented in the report.
IN We appreciate being of service to you in the geotechnical engineering phase of this
project, and are prepared to assist you during the construction phases as well. If you have
any questions concerning this report or any of our testing, inspection, design and
consulting services, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
TERRACON ,iM

Terracon has completed a geotechnical engineering exploration for the proposed single -
story, slab -on -grade Autosound Installation Building to be located adjacent to the existing
Soundtrack facility, east of Mason Street, in Fort Collins, Colorado. This study was
performed in general accordance with our proposal number D2000116 dated March 22,
2000.
The results of our engineering study, including the boring location diagram, laboratory test
results, test boring records, and the geotechnical recommendations needed to aid in the
design and construction of foundations, pavements, and other earth connected phases of
this project are attached.
The subsurface soils at the site consisted predominantly of silty sand with gravel or clayey
sand with gravel fill material extending to the depths explored and/or to the bedrock below.
Siltstone/claystone bedrock was encountered in Test Boring No. 3 at approximate depths
of 17-1/2 feet below existing site grades and extended to the depths explored.
Groundwater was not encountered in the test borings to maximum depths of exploration, .
20 feet below existing site grades, at the time of our drilling exploration and when checked
4 days after drilling.
The site is in proximity to a buried concrete box culvert that conveys Mail Creek Ditch
through the site area. Prior to the box culvert construction, the ditch was an open channel
which has since been filled in. The purpose of this Subsurface Exploration is to evaluate
the quality of the existing fill materials and provide geotechnical engineering
recommendations for construction over the fill.
