How Can the Jacob Center R.T.C. Help Larimer County?
The attached graph and corresponding numbers describe an unfortunate fact that has
exists in Larimer County. The majority of children that need R.T.C. (Residential
Treatment Care) level of care have to go outside the county to receive care because of
the lack of resources in Larimer County. This problem became more acute with the
recent closing of our county run R.T.C., Youth Safe. I believe the farther a child is sent
away from home to receive care the harder it is to involve parents in treatment and the
longer it takes to return the child to the home.
FACTS
For the past year Larimer County Human Services has averaged 58 kids in RTC's.
For the past year an average of 37 kids have gone out of county to receive RTC care.
For the past year Youth Safe has averaged 14 RTC kids in care and is now closed.
Therefore a problem exists in Larimer County which the Jacob Center would help
eleviate. The Jacob Center R.T.C. would help keep kids in our community.
