HomeMy WebLinkAbout1516 REMINGTON, REMINGTON HOUSE GROUP HOME - PDP - 11-00 - CORRESPONDENCE - CITIZEN COMMUNICATION (11)April 16, 2000 Members of the Zoning Board City of Fort Collins Subject: Proposed Increase in Group Home residents from 8 to 20 1516 Remington Street As the next door neighbor of the recently established group home at 1516 Remington Street, will be directly effected by their operation and activities. We have discussed this change of use with representatives of the Jacob Center and various City of Fort Collins staff members at neighborhood meetings and other occasions. Through these meetings we have developed an understanding of how the group home will be run and as a result believe they will make every effort to be good neighbors. Unfortunately our knowledge about group homes is only though these meetings, and we have no personal experience. As residents of a single-family neighborhood we are concerned with the request that the group home more than double the permitted number of residents, from 8 to 20. We believe the group home should be required to operate for at least one year before such a change in zoning is considered. Currently the group home is not in operation. By keeping the number of permitted residents at 8, consistent with single-family zoning, the neighborhood is allowed to better understand the impact -and associated -issues. Because this decision -permanently changes the zoning -for this property -and this neighborhood, we -request that this proposed change -not- approved. We want to thank the Zoning Board for listening to our concerns. Sincerely, Ted & Ellen Zibell 1520 Remington Street cc: Troy Jones, City of Fort Collins Planning Department Peter Barns, City of Fort Collins Zoning Department Joel Painter, The Jacob Center
