PROJECT STATEMENT
CO-391 ANHEUSER-BUSCH, HUB PARK
1118 NE Frontage Road
Fort Collins, CO 80524
Nextel Communications is requesting review and approval from the City of Fort Collins allow a
CMRS facility on the property of Hub Park.
Proposed CMRS Facility Description:
Nextel is proposing the placement of an 80' co -locatable monopole, painted earthtone, with
twelve (12) panel antennas on the middle west end of the property, just east of the west property
line. The associated equipment shelter measuring approximately I Vw x 20'1 will be placed on
the ground to the west of the monopole; it will be surrounded by a new six-foot high cedar fence.
The lease parcel measures 50' X 50'.
The lease parcel measures 50' X 50% it will be surrounded by a new six-foot high cedar fence,
and new spruce, evergreen, and Austrian Pine trees will be planted along its perimeter.
Each Nextel service area is divided into a grid of hexagonal geographic areas called cells. At the
center of each area is a low power unmanned radio repeater station, which handles calls to and
from mobile customers within the area. As a mobile customer moves from one area to another
with a call in progress, the call is automatically "handed off' to the next repeater station to allow
uninterrupted mobile conversation.
The selection of this site as a potential cellsite is based on Radio Frequency engineering
parameters, which are designed to produce a complete network of seamless cellular coverage.
As can be shown by the Radio Frequency coverage plots provided, this candidate has been
selected to meet the network design by providing improved coverage quality in the vicinity of
Interstate 25 and State Highway 50. As can also be seen by the coverage plots provided, any
movement in the site to the west or south will result in duplication of coverage, and any
movement of the site to the north will result in a gap in coverage.
Justification
The site is located in an Industrial zoning district. The telecommunication facility is an
unmanned facility that will not cause air, water, or noise pollution, nor impact traffic or utility
overload.
Nextel has been authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to construct and
operate the first multi -purpose enhanced specialized mobile radio system (ESMR) in the United
States. Nextel provides a valuable service to local businesses as well as the general public by
offering superior voice quality, no cloning, no roaming charges anywhere in the country and the
option to use telephone service, radio dispatch, alphanumeric paging, and voicemail from the
same handset.
