College Avenue Fort Collins, CO 80522 Dear Ted, Enclosed is our submittal of Harris Bilingual Elementary School Expansion and Remodel for Site Plan Advisory Review. The school is located at 501 East Elizabeth Street. Poudre School District is proposing a 20,000 square foot addition to the existing school. The 2 story addition will be to the west and include new classrooms, a gymnasium/cafeteria and kitchen, and a new main entrance to the south. Two free-standing out buildings which currently house the gym and classrooms will be demolished. The architectural style of the addition will correspond to that of the original school building, built in 1919. Exterior brick color and detailing and window style match the existing building. Hip roofs on the existing building and addition will have red light -weight concrete tiles similar to the original roofing tiles. Site work will include additional sidewalks continuing the curvilinear forms introduced in the recent playground project. The existing parking lot on the south will be reconstructed and a new driveway off Whedbee Street will provide service access to the kitchen and trash enclosure. The screen walls around the trash enclosure and utility yard will be 6 feet high masonry with opaque gates. An effort is being made to conserve as many existing trees around the school as possible. Additional trees will be planted to replace those being removed.
