Subject: Collindale project
Steve,
I have to say I'm quite surprised to get my P&Z packet today and see that there is an item on the agenda
regarding ped issues for the Collindale golf course project. I thought you were aware that I needed to be
in the loop on this project as it relates to ped issues.
I think that I should have been communicated with regarding this proposed modification based upon my
involvement with this project.
I am not opposed to the modification to allow the connecting walking to cross a drive aisle - I understand
the reasons why this is necessary from a physical site layout perspective. I am however, concerned that
part of your reasoning in your staff report is the low number of peds and bikes that will be accessing this
site. The City's policy has not been a "quantity" based approach when it comes to peds and bikes - it is a
quality approach. The reason I think the ped xing will work is the indication from the applicant that they
will enhance this area to try to minimize the safety conflict at the ped xing. The text of the staff report
indicates that special, enhanced features will be provided for this ped xing however the applicant (Parks &
VF Ripley) did not provide any drawings of this option for our review - or at least they are not provided in
the P&Z packet. Do you have a copy of any proposed improvements for this location? If so, I would like
to review it prior to Friday's worksession for I will most likely be the person who has to answer to P&Z if
they raise any concerns about this.
In the future, if any transportation related issues come about on this project, I would like to be kept in the
loop. By the way, does Linda Ripley still want to meet with us regarding the sidewalk on Horsetooth?
Please let me know, I haven't heard any response to the letter we sent to Jerry Brown. Thanks.
