Re: Relocating Water Utility Line to Virtually Eliminate Middle Pond
Environmental Damage
1. Reviewing the comments and talking briefly to you and others, it is clear to me
that the impact the water utility line has between the two ponds in our third
submittal is unacceptable.
2. To solve this problem we will move the water utility line approximately 20' to the
north where it passes between the two ponds.
This will have the effect of saving all of the trees and habitat and shrubs north of
the middle pond and just south of the north pond.
We will backfill about 20' along a portion of the pond's south shoreline, which will
require removing approximately 15 trees (thirteen 4" — 8" and two 12"). New
replacement trees will be planted but most importantly the serious adverse
environmental impact which this water utility line would have caused will be
eliminated.
Also, the design we have shown preserves virtually all of the environmentally
sensitive shoreline areas of the pond.
3. Enclosed please find a copy of the proposed plan in this regard for your review,
as well as photos. You will notice that the relocated water utility line now also will
serve for an emergency access road and a bike / ped path, which of course has
other important benefits for the project.
