Tom gave me the copy of the Staubach letter regarding Redtail this morning. I've contacted Stephanie
and Bob at FHU and we'll follow-up with Robert Harder at Staubach and let him know that we have been
working with Bob Carter and Lyn Hartley at the BNSF so we can hopefully alleviate his concerns and not
cause any delays for the development project to move forward. Please let me know if there is anything
else we need to do so that we don't delay things for the Redtail project. Thanks,
M

Troy,
Kathleen and I met with John P. last week to discuss our comments. From that meeting he agreed to
provide a trail easement on the north side of his property from the walk back to the RR ROW. The
proposed walk from this future trail connection out to Fossil Blvd. can remain as proposed on his site plan.
As for the width of the road across the culvert we asked for a more detailed drawing that includes the
cross section and dimensions. According to the LCUASS the width of the proposed crossing is required to
remain at the existing 51' ROW. However, as I commented the width of the culvert crossing is negotiable.
For example, we can probably compromise on a reduced ROW width (i.e. no parkway, narrower road), but
a wider walk, which would not require us to contribute funds. That is why we are asking for a detailed
drawing.
I anticipate from talking with Kathleen and other depts. that we would be looking at a 37' 6" culvert
crossing width. This would include an attached 9' walk on the west side, 6" curb zone, 2 - 11' travel lanes
(no on -street parking), 6" curb zone, and a 5' 6" attached walk on the other side. Both Eric B. and Mike H.
have agreed to the 11' travel lanes, but Dave Stringer was out last week and would also need to agree
since he is reviewing it for Dev. Rev. engineers.
All of these issues are in my last round of comments. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Kathleen please feel free to add anything that I may have left out.

Kathleen,
In light of the lack of funding, I assume the underpass at the STC site won't be happening with the
installation of the bike path. Without an underpass, Bob Underhill (across the tracks from Redtail) controls
the destiny of the connection of the trail to the Fossil Creek trail, because the railroad right of way narrows
along his property frontage. Does this perhaps suggest that we should put the bike/ped path on the east
side of the tracks south of Harmony? If so, then the path can go adjacent to Redtail, where there's 100
feet from centerline of the RR to work with. In either case, we need to make a decision as to whether
south of the STC, the bike/ped trail goes onto Fossil Boulevard, or whether it goes in the Railroad
right-of-way west of the businesses that front onto Fossil Boulevard.
In Redtail, we're commenting that an attached sidewalk of 10 feet is necessary to cross the pond, but this
decision will affect whether or not to make the sidewalk connection up to Fossil Boulevard that wide too. If
it doesn't go to Fossil Boulevard, then Redtail needs to provide easements to allow the trail to go from RR
ROW to the bridge and back on both sides of the pond crossing. The other half of this question is the cost
to oversize that portion of sidewalk crossing over the pond. It seems that we can only make him pay for
the portion of that sidewalk that the impact of his project is causing. Have you given any thought, or been
approached by Jon Prouty about the City's contribution to the oversizing of that sidewalk across the pond?
If not, I'm sure he'll be asking about that at some point.
Anyway, we just need to flush out these couple of details
