Dear Steve:
Thank you for the minutes of the November 8th meeting concerning
the Bennett Road Bungalows.
Again, I was distressed that no mention at all was made of
Hal Worth's lengthy statement about the history of the work
that went into the recommendation for the West Central
Neighborhood Plan that this land become a park.
I was happy to have you clarify for me that my citations were
not really part of the plan.
I think that over time it is becoming abundantly clear that
what takes precedent over all citizen input is the Zoning Map.
I would submit, whenever a hearing is held, staff always states
that this is an accepted use under the Zoning Map. I am
beginning to think that the city spends a lot of money on
meetings and "plans" that really have no status.
It is also becoming clear that the Traffic people and the
Parks people work in vacuums. They have formulae that they
superimpose on any proposal - no exceptions. I would like
to point out that "one size doesnot fit all." The Parks Dept.
has the power to do what it wants, but please, not under the
guise of telling us our neighborhood park is Rolland Moore.
Get a young mother and children to try to walk there and the
statement becomes absurd. Just don't say it.
I have a couple more questions I should have raised at the
meeting - or they were probably answered at that time.
1. How far west on Bennett Road is the parallel parking on
the north side of the road going?
