The outcome will be the creation of new boundary areas and changes made to existing boundaries for senior high school students in PSD. The PSD Board of Education will make final decisions regarding boundaries, based on recommendations from the Parent Boundary Advisory Committee. Following are key dates in the tentative construction schedule: • April 2002 — issue early site grading and underground utility bid packages • August 2002 — issue building construction and site development bid packages • September 2002 through May 2004 — construction of facility • August 2004 — school opens For additional information on the February 11 meeting, call Ted Shepard, City of Fort Collins Chief Planner, at 221-6720. Or, visit the PSD Planning, Design and Construction website at: www.psd.kl2.co.us/district/construction/ -30- -gyp I. �ql se ro n� POUDRE SCHOOL DISTRICT MEDIA RELEASE: February 6, 2002 For more information, contact: Ellen Laubhan Poudre School District Communications (970)490-3427 2004 High School Public Meeting Set for February 11 The public will have another opportunity to provide input on the design of Poudre School District's 2004 high school at a neighborhood meeting scheduled from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, February 11, at Preston Junior High School, 4901 Corbett Drive. The public meeting on February 11 is being hosted by the City of Fort Collins Planning Department as a neighborhood informational meeting on the development proposal. Poudre School District's 2004 High School Design Advisory Group held community meetings in September (2001) to present preliminary planning and design information on the facility, and to seek community input. The 2004 high school will be located in southeast Fort Collins, one mile east of Timberline Road, and 1/2-mile south of Harmony Road, at the intersection of Rock Creek Drive (off Kechter Road, County Road 36) and Zeigler Road (County Road 9). Voters approved a bond issue and mill levy in 2000 for the construction and staffing of the 2004 high school, as well as construction and staffing of four other schools and expansion and upgrades for existing schools. The 2004 high school will feature: • Capacity for 1,800-students, designed as three, 600-student school -within -a -school "houses," which allow the school to offer a full array of curricular offerings and maintain a small school environment. • 290,000 square foot facility, with adjoining park, to be developed by the City of Fort Collins • Exemplary educational and technical specifications, as established by the Design Advisory Group members • Designed using the District's "Sustainable Design Guideline" as a "high performance/green" building, including construction materials that recycle natural resources, as well as "buildings that teach" components.
