2004 High School Public Meeting Set for February 11
The public will have another opportunity to provide input on the design of Poudre School
District's 2004 high school at a neighborhood meeting scheduled from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Monday,
February 11, at Preston Junior High School, 4901 Corbett Drive.
The public meeting on February 11 is being hosted by the City of Fort Collins Planning
Department as a neighborhood informational meeting on the development proposal. Poudre
School District's 2004 High School Design Advisory Group held community meetings in
September (2001) to present preliminary planning and design information on the facility, and to
seek community input.
The 2004 high school will be located in southeast Fort Collins, one mile east of Timberline
Road, and 1/2-mile south of Harmony Road, at the intersection of Rock Creek Drive (off Kechter
Road, County Road 36) and Zeigler Road (County Road 9).
Voters approved a bond issue and mill levy in 2000 for the construction and staffing of the 2004
high school, as well as construction and staffing of four other schools and expansion and
upgrades for existing schools.
The 2004 high school will feature:
• Capacity for 1,800-students, designed as three, 600-student school -within -a -school "houses,"
which allow the school to offer a full array of curricular offerings and maintain a small
school environment.
• 290,000 square foot facility, with adjoining park, to be developed by the City of Fort Collins
• Exemplary educational and technical specifications, as established by the Design Advisory
Group members
• Designed using the District's "Sustainable Design Guideline" as a "high performance/green"
building, including construction materials that recycle natural resources, as well as "buildings
that teach" components.
