Re: Proposed New Wireless Telecommunications Facility at Collindale Golf Course
Dear Becky:
April 7, 2015, Bill Whirty and I met with members of the City's management staff. Based on
public concerns expressed to City management and our Council, it has been decided that we will
be creating a new administrative policy in regards to the locations of telecommunications
facilities on City -owned properties. This policy will prohibit new telecommunication facilities
from being located on golf courses, parks, and natural areas. The exception to this policy will be
if there is existing infrastructure that would accommodate the telecommunications facility.
Because of this, the City will no longer consider a lease to Verizon at Collindale Golf Course.
We appreciate your efforts and the efforts of Verizon to accommodate the public concerns and
blending in with the Collindale golf course. We will, however, be continuing with the co -locate
lease at the City Park Ballfields. We will contact you about the timing of taking the lease to City
Council.
