Re; East Elizabeth Street Rezoning
Dear Mr. Harder,
The following comments. were received by the Current Planning Division for the Elizabeth Street
Rezoning Application #2-02:
Advanced Planning:
The request to rezone 1004 and 1008 East Elizabeth Street is inconsistent with the East Side
Neighborhood Plan, upon which the current zoning is based on. Conditions have not changed
since the adoption of this plan in 1986 to warrant the rezoning. The proposed zoning will help
facilitate the conversion of adjacent lots west of this site into uses other than single family, which
the plan intends to prevent. Please be aware that ownership/rental status is not sufficient enough
to base a rezoning decision upon. We see no grounds to support the requested rezoning, and
therefore recommend denial of the rezoning application.
Current Planning:
In the event the rezoning request proceeds to the Planning and Zoning Board and City Council
for consideration, a neighborhood meeting will need to be held. The City would arrange the
meeting, the applicant will need to attend to present the requested change. This meeting must be
held prior to scheduling the item on a Planning and Zoning Board Agenda.
Please inform the Current Planning Department if you wish to proceed with the rezoning request.
If you wish to proceed, the rezoning request would be presented to the Planning and Zoning
Board with a recommendation of disapproval from staff.
Sincerely,
Bo Barkeen
