Re: Determination of Eligibility for the Ziegler/Webster Farm, 5308 S. Ziegler Road
Dear Mr. Little:
In response to your request, the Ziegler/Webster Farm, located at 5308 S. Ziegler Road, was recently
surveyed at the reconnaissance level, to evaluate its potential for designation as a Fort Collins
Landmark. It is staff s opinion that the property would likely qualify for designation as a Fort
Collins Landmark, and, additionally, has the potential to be listed on the National Register of
Historic Places. The property has architectural significance, and is significant under the historical
themes of agriculture and community development. The property also is significant for its
association with both the Ziegler and Webster families, important early settlers in the Harmony
District.
Because of the property's eligibility, new development on or adjacent to the Ziegler/Webster
property will need to be reviewed for compliance with Section 3.4.7 of the Land Use Code, in
addition to any other applicable regulations. This section ensures that historic sites. structures or
objects are preserved and incorporated into proposed development in a manner that does not
adversely affect their integrity, and that new construction is designed to respect and be compatible
with the historic resource.
