Develop a preliminary street cross section.
Determine the number of acres for the park and for the HS.
Revise the site plan to show the park's 'core' closer to Kechter Road.
Schedule / Plan for the park's conceptual master plan.
Determine what funds the City will have for baseball fields now (2004)
Contact TransFort to discuss routes and bus stop locations.
Also find out how many students use TransFort not to get to HS.
Review layout of ball fields if drive is moved to the north.
PSD 2004 High School 4 Site Design Team
D 7.19 Design Ted: The HS needs a "visual front" to the community. Public needs to be able to
relate to the school and its entrance.
D 7.20 Drive How should the road be owned? By the City? By PSD?
Ted: Doesn't matter who owns it. It will have to be built to City Standards.
Mike: Would like to see it as a "Drive" and not a 'street'
D 7.21 Bikes Ted: You may want to review how bicycle traffic is integrated into the flow of the site.
You may have bike lanes on the street, or a wider / separate sidewalk along the
street. Or, you could have a bike trail if it provides a direct path to the facilities.
D 7.22 Street Profile We will need to develop a street cross section.
D 7.23 Park CB,JG, It was suggested that the park's "core" be shifted to south of the creek, with
HB: parking access off Kechter Road. (Be careful to not block visual access to HS)
RB+B to explore.
D 7.24
Park
Craig
Will require 20 to 30 parking spaces in the park's lot.
D 7.25
Park
Mike:
The conceptual master plan for the park needs to be completed soon.
D 7.26 Park Funding Craig Parks is concerned about the amount of money it will take for all the
infrastructure (streets, utilities, etc.) that they will have to participate in.
r
D 7.27 Streets Ted: PSD has to build the roads it needs, but does not participate in oversizing fees.
D 7.28 Natural Res. Ted
D 7.29 Traffic Ted
Watch the area needed for the creek's "Buffer Zone".
Suggest that you show a separate plan in the traffic report indicating all
non -automobile routes of access. Bikes, Busses, Peds, etc.
D 7.30 Busses Tom C: I'll contact TransFort to discuss routes and bus stop locations.
I'll also find out how many students use TransFort to get to HS.
D 7.31 Size of Site: Craig How many acres is left for the park and how many for the HS?
D 7.32 Stormwater Tom O Can we run any stormwater to the park site?
Ed We would like to keep all the stormwater detained in the irrigation pond.
Craig Could have some water quality ponds along the creek on park property.
D 7.33 Trees
Ted: Jim Sell Designs has a list of trees that would be available for PSD to take
from the old Johnson mobile home park.

D 7.8 Baseball / Joe: The layout shown is fine for PSD use. Fields will be lighted.
Softball Watch out for field(s) too close to parking (foul balls)
Craig: Can we look at shifting the drive to the north, putting all the ball fields together?
GB: Need to review how the drive connects with the neighborhood to the east. May
have to leave the Varsity field north of the drive. Athletics needs to respond
to not having the fields adjacent to one another.
D 7.9 Funding Mike: Does the city have the funds for baseball fields now (2004), or will you have
to wait until 2008?
D 7.10
Students
Tom C:
The southern most boundary for this school is about 1 1/2 mile south of the site.
D 7.11
Park
Craig:
The park's soccer fields need to beset back from the intersection.
D 7.12
Park
Ted:
Parking could be allowed along Kechter Road.
D 7.13 Pkg Spaces Mike: Will the school parking spaces be numbered? Advantages:
Drivers always go directly to the same space.
No cruising around looking for a 'better' space.
Traffic moves in a more orderly fashion.
Staff can tell if someone is absent.
D 7.14 Receiving Frank: Make sure the loading dock can handle full sized semi trucks.
D 7.15 Access Jerry: Fire lane around the bldg.?
GB: Part way, plus 12' wide sidewalks where needed, especially to all fields.
D 7.16 Parking Ed: Need to watch / control students parking in the Park's parking lots.
D 7.17 Tennis Hetty: The park needs 2 courts during the day and 5 on the weekends.
GB: We are planning on 8 total. The configuration has not been finalized.
Courts can be lighted, and will have a restroom nearby.
D 7.18 Tennis Parkg GB: There will be on -street parking along the drive for tennis court parking.
Jerry: What would happen if the tennis courts and the 'core' of the park were moved
closer to the center?
GB: Would work, but we would like to keep the center area "open" towards the south,
so that the school's vista remains prominent.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
Item I Issue I Who: IlDiscussion
D 7.1 Design GB: George reviewed the site plans developed during the Charette, and as refined.
Generally: the school is to the north, and the City park to the south.
He has presented these to the Design Advisory Group (DAG) which met with
very favorable response.
The fields will be shared between the City Park and the HS.
The District's desire is to provide vehicle access to the site from both the east
and the west. (FCHS has had several accidents and experiences a lot of
traffic due to poor automobile circulation.)
The latest scheme shows a winding road crossing the site, with traffic control
near the center. This will divide up the parking lots, as well as provide a
separate area for passenger drop-off. Parallel parking along one side of the road.
This should create a "City Park" feeling to the site.
Bus loading/ Staff parking is separate from other auto circulation.
D 7.2 Parking GB: Parking: RB+B will master plan for about 950, although only about 700 will be
constructed if the school opens with grades 9 thru 12. (FCHS has < 900 spaces.)
D 7.3 Access Ted: Cambridge road will connect across Kechter, and eventually becomes Trilby Rd.
It will be a minor arterial street.
D 7.4 Football GB: The DAG has stated that there will not be a District Wide Football Stadium on
this site. They are looking for other sites for a future Stadium.
However, RB+B will look at the area in the northwest corner of the site as a
possible stadium site.
A stadium that would seat 6000, would require about 1500 parking spaces, as
well as restroom facilities.
D 7.5 Pool GB: The DAG has stated that there will be no pool on this site.
ED: Not a totally'dead' issue. May need to master plan for a future pool.
D 7.6 Soccer Sandi: There is a possibility of including a soccer facility (similar to Boltz). It would also
be used for lacrosse and field hockey.
There is a concern about scheduling soccer/ football/ track all on one field.
Jerry: May use the artificial turf for soccer and/or football.
D 7.7 Track Sandi: Track area will be lighted.
