The irrigation check structure in Fossil Creek is 1.6 ft. higher than previously thought. It is expected that this will raise the flood elevation on this site, but it is not known by how much. We will not require Discount Tire to change their building elevation. However, we want Discount Tire to be aware of this issue and they may want to consider raising their building to give themselves additional freeboard in order to protect the building from flood damages. This information was found when the City's Parks department was doing survey work for the future trail. Stormwater will be working with the Parks department over the next several months to revise the floodplain modeling and also see if there is any mitigation that can take place as part of the trail design.
