Subject: Rezoning Request
September 17, 2002
Dear Mr. Mapes:
I am a property owner at 2236 Water Blossom Lane and am directing this e-mail to you regarding the
proposed zoning change for the 15 acre site at the southeast corner of Drake and Taft Hill. Although I am
concerned about the additional impact any development may have on the traffic in the area, my real
concern is that if this 15 acres is allowed to be rezoned, it would be opened up for additional development
options that in my opinion are not consistent with the overall development theme/character of the
neighborhood.
It is my understanding that by changing the parcel to a medium density, it would allow up to 16 units to the
acre, which is an extremely high ratio for such a small parcel of land. This type of density change will not
only affect the character of the neighborhood, but will definitely affect the overall property values in the
area. If a rezoning is not to the benefit of all that are affected by the change, then it should not be
approved. This parcel was originally zoned based upon an overall review and plan for the entire area, and
unless the information provided by the applicant for rezoning overwhelmingly shows the change to be to
the benefit of the entire neighborhood, I strongly discourage its approval.
I appreciate your time in reviewing this e-mail.
Sincerely,
Mark Eames
