Subject: Re public hearing on 11/20 for Kaufman Barn, #18-03
My wife and I own a home at 1500 Fuqua Dr. on the corner of W. Lake St. and currently rent it out. I
moved to Fort Collins for graduate school in 1987. The Kaufman Barn property was used as a horse
boarding facility then and probably for quite some time previous to my coming to Fort Collins. There are
numerous horse boarding properties scattered on the west side of town. Although this is now considered
a nonconforming use because of residential development that has surrounded these horse properties, I
believe that they should be allowed to continue their desired use indefinitely. I have no objection to the
upgrading of the Kaufman Barn in my neighborhood and, in fact, welcome it. I believe that the horse
properties scattered throughout the town provide a somewhat rural respite from the high density
residential development that has overwhelmed Fort Collins in recent years.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
