Dear Resident:
On Tuesday, March 26, 2002 from 7:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. at Dunn Elementary
School*, 501 South Washington Street, the City of Fort Collins Planning Department will conduct
a neighborhood information meeting to discuss a development proposal in your neighborhood.
The applicants are planning to turn their home at 1024 West Mulberry Street into the Diane Louise
Johnson Cultural Center. It will be a memorial for their daughter who died in a plane crash in 1985.
The purpose of the center is to provide the citizens of Fort Collins with a meeting place and the hope
is that it can become a place to study and tutor students, as well as being a meeting place for a
variety of groups of people. It will be free of charge and open to the public and will provide for
handicapped citizens. This center will prohibit smoking and the use of alcohol and drugs. Kitchen
facilities will be provided. The property is in the NCL — Neighborhood Conservation, Low Density
Zoning District.
The purpose of this meeting on March 26th is to give all participants the opportunity to ask questions
of the applicant and express their concerns in an informal setting. This is an information sharing
meeting only and no official City decision will result from this meeting. A `formal'
development review request has not yet been made to the City. When submitted, a
development request must comply with the requirements and standards as set forth in the
City's Land Use Code. Representatives for the applicant/developer will be present to discuss their
proposal. City representatives will be present to respond to questions about the proposed
development, City policies and regulations, and to record questions, comments, and concerns
expressed at the meeting.
The list of affected property owners for this public information meeting is derived from official
records of the Larimer County Assessor. Because of the lag time between home occupancy and
record keeping, or because of rental situations, a few affected property owners may have been
missed. Please feel free to notify your neighbor of this pending meeting so all neighbors may have
the opportunity to attend. If you are unable to attend this meeting, written comments are welcome.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call myoffice at 221-6341.
