Subject: Water Quality for Cherry Street Lofts
Jay,
I just got off the phone with Glen Schlueter with the City's Stormwater
Utility. He confirmed to me that there is no detention required on the
site because the amount of impervious area being added is not
substantial enough to trigger the requirement in that drainage basin.
Also, he confirmed to me that, given the unwillingness of the Mason
Street North project to cooperate on the water quality pond sizing, that
he recommends that we request a variance for water quality. He said
that the request will need to be accompanied by detailed civil
engineering drawings, but that it may be a good idea to submit the
variance request (once the drawings are finalized) directly to him just
prior to PDP submittal. He said he would hand deliver the variance
request to Kevin McBride (the guy who makes the decision), and would
recommend to Kevin that he approve the variance. Glen recommended not
lumping the variance request into the PDP submittal so it doesn't get
delayed by being buried in the pile of submittal items to review.
