HomeMy WebLinkAboutHOUSKA AUTOMOTIVE PLAT - PDP - 30-03 - CORRESPONDENCE - CITY HALLTed Shepard Fwd: RE Grimm Office lers C3 937 Riverside Ave Page 2' _, P..W ._., an office complex at 937 Riverside Avenue that includes one City owned office trailer and two smaller office trailers that are owned and occupied by Grimm Construction. Grimm Construction received a Zoning Violation Notice to remove the modular buildings by July 31 st. We are aware the Mr. Dennis Houska received a similar notice and has since been granted an extension to December 31st, pending the development review for this parcel. I spoke with Sarah from your office last Friday and discussed our interest in staying at the 937 Riverside address until the two trailers can be moved to another project site later this year. Currently, we are a tenant of Mr. Houska's and our presence has been good for the area in terms of security and appropriate use of the vacant land. Fort Collins Utilities' office trailer is scheduled to be moved to the Citys Water Treatment Plant starting on Monday, July 21 st. If our trailers also need to be moved, it would only make sense to move them at the same time and by the same trailer moving firm. However, we see advantages to keeping a viable office at this location and would like to request an extension to the zoning violation deadline from July 31st to December 31 st. This would help avoid moving the Grimm office trailers twice, give us time to identify a staging area for the next project, and serve as functional office facilities in the interim. It is my understanding that Mr. Houska discussed Grimm's request for an extension with Mr. Ted Shepard of the Planning Department. Mr. Shepard didn't see a problem with the extension and the temporary use of the land, but has deferred the decision to your office. I apologize for the urgency of this matter, but with less than three weeks left to remove the existing facilities and with a mover scheduled for early next week, I feel I must make a commitment by the end of this week. Can you advise me of your decision by telephone or e-mail in the next day or two? Thank you for your consideration of this request for an extension. Jeffrey J.
