To Whom It May Concern:,
I thought it would be helpful for everyone concerned to summarize the conclusion of the
meeting we had with the city on September 25 in regards to the fire sprinkler situation. Ron
Gonzales mentioned in the meeting that the Fire Department requires that a building must be
situated in a way that a fire truck parked at the curb can reach any portion of the building with a
150 foot hose attached to the truck. If a building cannot accomplish this, then a fire sprinkler
system must be installed in that building.. Initially it appeared as though the project under
consideration (Old Town Commons) did not comply with the requirement, but after some closer
analysis, using a scale and pencil, Ron and I concluded that we can reach any portion of the
building with a 150 foot hose from two separate locations on the site. Please refer to the attached
diagram that illustrates this point.
Unless there are some other requirements that we are failing to comply with, I am certain that at
this point we do not need a fire sprinkler system installed.
Sincerely,
Ryan Bloemker
