HomeMy WebLinkAboutRAISING CANE'S - PDP - 6-04 - REPORTS - CITIZEN COMMUNICATIONAnd.now a restaurant with access at the intersection? In addition to the above -- a perfect setup for a teen hangout. Just what we here always needed. Is the City serious? The intersection is now an accident waiting to happen: Bicyclists, motorcyclists, motorists, skateboarders, runners, seniors and other walkers. Plus, the entrance to The Chalet garage (immediately south of the proposed restaurant site on Remington) is likely to become hazardous if additional traffic is fostered by the restaurant. And our access to Remington from the garage exit (slightly east of the intersection) will probably meantaking our lives in our hands each time we want to turn left out of the garage in ordef to get to and drive down Remington. Please consider the residents (seniors and others)of this area in making a decision. We do not live on College, nor do we want to. And this proposal is like forcing College down our throats. Collins, CO 80525 November 26, 2003 Mr. Ted Shepard, Chief Planner Community Planning and Environmental Services City of Fort Collins 281 North College Ft. Collins, CO 80522-0580 Dear Mr. Shepard: R;CEvED CURRENT PANNING Having just become aware of your November 2 letter regarding Raising Cane's Drive -Through Restaurant, I must go on record, not as opposing the restaurant and its South College access, but as opposing restaurant access on Remington and Dartmouth. I have been a resident at the above address for about 5 years, during which time there has been a constant increase in traffic at the intersection of Remington and Dartmouth. Why? On the west side of Remington, for one block between Spring Park -and Dartmouth, there is access to a strip mall that includes Bank One and Tran's Tai Kwon Do Academy (lots of traffic for each). On the east side, there is the Spring Creek Country Day School, in operation 12 months a year, generating heavy traffic in the morning and afternoon as well as on days when they host special events (cars are then parked up and down Remington and Dartmouth). In addition, we have the problem of Enterprise parking their cars there as well. And when there is a sponsored "run" parking is impossible and some of our streets are blocked off. Next to the Country Day School there are condominium town homes (I think that's what they are). The Chalet Apartments (housing only senior citizens) and other multiple -family apartments cover Dartmouth from Remington to Mathews. Beyond that Dartmouth and the side streets continue to Stover, with single-family homes. The intersection of Dartmouth and Remington is often icy during the winter months (we never see a snowplough or sander). During the warmer weather it becomes a teen driving challenge -- cars being raced up and down the streets (they seem to love the little hill on Remington) and taking the intersection corner at full speed (much faster than any speed limit) with radios and boomboxes at full blast.
