Subject: Wood Street Lofts development proposal
Dear Mr. Barkeen,
I own property at 210 Park Street and I wish to submit my comments regarding
the development proposal known as "Wood Street Lofts".
I am strongly opposed to this proposal as I currently understand it. The
destruction of existing houses and construction of three four-plex units on
this site is incongruous with both the character of the neighborhood and the
city's own policy regarding the construction of alley houses in Old Town.
Placing 12 housing units on three lots at this location will have an adverse
impact on traffic, parking, noise, congestion, and the quality of life in
this neighborhood. It is incompatible with the historic nature of most of
the houses that line Wood Street and the surrounding area. It will be
incompatible with the city's stance on alley houses in those same broad
criteria. It will have a detrimental effect on surrounding property values.
The city should not even be entertaining the idea of this development. 12
housing units on 3 lots in this neighborhood is completely unacceptable.
Sincerely,
Kevin M. Bailey
