Subject: 1310 Laporte McKinley Cottages NM Correction
Hello attendees of the 1310 Laporte - McKinley Cottages PDP Neighborhood Meeting,
I am contacting you because I recently discovered that I made an error in the Neighborhood Meeting.
This email is to correct my error.
My error concerned question number 7, to which I responded. The notes below indicate the question
asked, my response at the meeting, and then what I have since discovered.
7. Question: "How will building compatibility be ensured?"
Answer: Anne Aspen: 'The development review process in the City involves our Historic
Preservation Office. They review the project for compatibility using the standards in 3.4.7 of the Land Use
Code."
Note of Correction: Further research after the meeting revealed a recent code change to section
3.1.1 of the Land Use Code. Until recently, a project like this would be subject to Section 3.4.7, the
historic preservation compatibility standards. But in December of 2004, as a result of the Rule Farm
property appeal, City Council directed Staff to eliminate these requirements for single family subdivisions
that are subject only to basic development review, which this project will be once platted. Therefore there
will be no speck mechanism for the City to ensure compatibility with the existing historic residence.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this. I have attached the notes from the whole
meeting to this email. You may reach me via email at aasoen cDfcgov.com or phone at 221-6750. Please
feel free to pass this email along to other interested parties.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Anne Aspen
