Subject: 1310 LaPorte
Hi Ann,
Thank you for your phone call.
I live near 1310 LaPorte and am concerned about the
proposal for that property. One house sits there already,
and I believe the plan is to add three more.
I understand that the meeting on Aug. 17th is for
information purposes only. Will you be taking neighborhood
comment at that time? Or is it one-way communication where
we just receive information about the proposal?
If you could let me know the process the owner has to follow
and at what points neighbors can voice their opinions, that
would be helpful. Also, are there any officials I can contact
on Planning and Zoning, etc., who could illuminate the process
or who would take comment from me?
I appreciate your help. I have several concerns and realize
you cannot address them all, but they are as follows:
1. Noise at the existing property is an ongoing problem. They
have had one citation and four police visits total, according to
the Public Nuisance officer. Three more rentals in that small
space will only exacerbate the problem. I cannot imagine quiet
families wanting to rent there. I can only imagine a student
party village, which is not the current environment of our neighborhood.
2. The corner of McKinley and LaPorte is an odd angle. It can
cause traffic problems for people turning both directions. People
already use McKinley as a straight shot to Mountain, and more
houses mean more cars.
3. This seems more of a commercial venture than a residential one.
The owners are developers/investors, not residents. Three houses
on that lot feels like a development. Are the owners subject
to any development standards?
Thank you for your help,
Denise Walters
