Hi Chris,
I have forwarded your email to Clark Mapes in the Advance Planning Department for input on the
downtown/Mtz Park building heights and VPS question, and Helen Matson of the Citys Real Estate
Services for the City ownership and day picnic area question. They are the respective experts on those
issues.
They are great questions and I appreciate you sharing them with me so we can do a bit of research for
you. I hope that they will get back to me within the next few days. I'll let you know what they come up with
for answers.

Hi Anne,
Boy am I glad Jim Wurz is coming to meet you with HEather..... he's lived here longer than me, 10 years,
and knows everything about our history here ..... so I'm including a comment he made to me that we're
curious about:
"Another comment regarding bldg. height: Ten years ago, when the city
commissioned the Visual Preference Survey, citizens overwhelmingly stated
that they wanted buildings in the center of downtown to be no higher than
3 or 4 stories. It's a stretch to even call this site downtown —it's
Martinez Park. Why is that study, which was used to inform City Plan,
being so easily ignored now?"
And ....... a big question circulating is ...... we all thought that the city owned that parcel and was using it as
part of the park..... I'd last heard that the City was going to use that area for a day picnic area........ can you
help us find about this? It will definitely come up and I think we need at least a map of the Citys land
there.
Thanks,
Chris
