HomeMy WebLinkAboutFORT COLLINS DISCOVERY MUSEUM - PDP - 6-10 - CORRESPONDENCE - LETTER OF INTENT (3)• April 7, 2010 STEVE OLT CITY PROJECT PLANNER CITY OF FORT COLLINS 300 LAPORTE AVE. FORT COLLINS, CO 80521 RE: Fort Collins Discovery Museum Mr. Olt: RECEIVED APR 14 2010 This is to acknowledge your letter dated March 1, 2010 regarding subject. In general the plan calls for parking and walkways adjacent to active Railroad track. I have reviewed the information you have provided and object to such proposed use as planned for the following reason. The proposed use as a walkway and parking without a protection fence is contrary to the objectives of public safety and general welfare and conflicts with the Railroad's adjacent industrial use. Therefore, at a minimum the Railroad would request the City or the Developer to install a 6 foot tall wall/fence along the common property line of the Union Pacific Railroad Company's adjacent main line corridor that would prevent access onto Railroad property. The Railroad has long objected to uses that combine human occupancy or congregation near unprotected freight rail operations. Should the above requirements be met for the proposed development adjacent to the Railroad's property, the objectives raised herein shall be withdrawn and the Railroad will agree to the development plan adjacent to the Railroad property.
