Kathleen:
Attached is the latest, and I hope final, iteration of the railroad crossing detail. I spoke with Stephanie this
morning and she will forward this to BNSF and the PUC as soon as I give her the green light. The following
revisions have been made:
- All construction has been removed from within the railroad easement. This resulted in alterations the sidewalk
layout and the seat wall.
- The subdrain system within the easement area has been removed with all drainage accomplished via a sidewalk
chase at the northwest. This should be enough to prevent ponding in the easement area.
- The crossing block layout at the Mason Street crossing has been staggered to help mitigate the additional
hazard of the jointing between the blocks.
Look this over and let me know if you see any issues.
Dan
P.S. I still feel like it would be a good idea to have the signage at the crossing state "Bikers Dismount at Tracks!"
or something to that effect. At very least, this would encourage riders who are unfamiliar with the crossing to be
careful.
