My name is Jennifer Eichhorn and I live at 1004 Mantz Place. I was not able to attend the
meeting the other night so I would like to express my thoughts about the Hellenic Plaza
in this letter. To be honest, the thought of it makes me ill. I have worked very hard to find
a home in a nice quiet neighborhood close to Dunn so my daughter could go to school
there. Besides the obvious problems with drinking and parking, the view will be gone and
it will be noisier than it already is. We already have these kinds of issues and they will
only get worse. And don't we have enough space open for retail establishments already?
For example, the new buildings on Elizabeth have not been completely filled by tenants,
either commercial or residential. Is it possible to build the dwellings farther west and
have the parking lot sit off of Shields? Also, how will this affect my property value? And
aren't we trying to clean up the area? Who are the builders? The majority of homes are
owned by the residents in our neighborhood. This will drastically change our space and
homes.
This scares me very much. My home is a place I want to live for a long time and be able
to raise a good little girl and provide stability, good values and hope.
They should try something different to try and improve our neighborhood by downsizing
a little bit. Maybe they need to be less intent on fattening their pocketbooks?
