If an evergreen spreading shrub is intended then there are many cultivars of horizontal juniper that could be specified. It appears that screening may be the purpose where this plant is shown on the plans. 3-12-14: The cultivar of spreading juniper should be specified in the plant list. SO response: The purpose of planting Wichita Blue Juniper is to screen transformers. According to multiple online resources, its mature height is 15'-20', and mature spread is 4'-6'. The design intent is to create a solid green hedge to screen the transformers, and Wichita Blue Juniper can also be trimmed into a hedge, which is what we are looking for. We are using them as tall evergreen shrubs and re -spaced them at 6' on center. The plant count has been updated per the minor revision. SO response: A good amount of existing trees are being retained along Stanford, which can be found on sheet LA-102. It's not feasible to retain any additional existing trees along Stanford.
