HomeMy WebLinkAboutNORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER - PDP - 54-05 - REPORTS - CORRESPONDENCE-NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING2. Parking: • I would like to see more handicap accessible parking. I know you said four spaces are available but on Tuesday and Thursday for the nutrition program we have 5-10 seniors with handicap parking cards. (Anonymous) • Really appreciate the redesign of parking to separate United Way parking from Aztlan parking. (Jean Grove) • Want agreement on signage and other management to insure adequate parking for users of United Way facility. (Jean Grove) 3. Storage: We would like locking storage space for the individual programs. (Anonymous) 4. Program Administration: What about nepotism? Everyone is related in one way or another. I hate or dislike nepotism. I think people should be appointed by hard work and are they educated or qualified to be running all these programs. Thank you. (Anonymous) 2 City of Fort Collins Commur. Planning and Environmental '. vices Current Planning COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE PROJECT: New Northside Aztlan Center DATE: October 27, 2005 APPLICANT: City of Fort Collins CITY PLANNER: Anne Aspen The Applicant is proposing to construct an enlarged, updated and enhanced Aztlan Center on the existing Aztlan Center Site and to then demolish the existing building. The City of Fort Collins owns the property and operates the Center. Through an RFP process, the City chose a design team to design and construct the new Center. Along with City staff, the architects, planners and engineers from the design team were on hand with renderings of the proposed New Northside Aztlan Center and were available to answer questions and discuss the design with Open House participants. The Open House was held from 6:30pm-8:30pm. WRITTEN COMMENTS COLLECTED I. Handball Courts: • As shown on the site plan, the handball courts appear as 40' x 40'. This would not quite accommodate 2 courts. The actual "in -bounds" area for 2 courts would be 40' x 40' but the floor would need to extend 15' to 20' beyond the "in bounds" area of the courts. (J. Ken Patterson) • The location of the handball courts on the site plan may be too crowded for space. An alternative location could be near the basketball courts (outdoor) on the northwest side of the building, currently allotted as parking. (J. Ken Patterson) • Please feel free to call me anytime to discuss any aspect of the site plan regarding the handball courts. (J. Ken Patterson) 1 281 North College Avenue • P.O.
