Dear Ms. Sommer:
RECEIVED
CURRENT PLNMNG
1309 City Park Avenue
Fort Collins

January 17, 2006
Thank you for providing me with the proceedings of the meeting
on December 15, 2005 concerning the conversion of 1234 W. Pros-
pect from a residence to a professional office.
Since the "improvement" of Prospect from a sleepy little street
to a busy speedway, 1234 has become less attractive as a dwelling
place.
Because my house is at the west end of the Bennett playground and
is well buffered with trees and bushes and does not back up on
properties on Prospect, I can see no adverse effects to me.
Parking in the rear might have an impact on those living on
Bennett. Parking in front of the building might be less attract-
ive.
Lighting will not impact me except for sky glow. Light fixtures
directing the lights down will be good.
Concern was expressed about the wildlife corridor. It has
bee shrinking. The Mormon Church acquired a lot running down
to Wspect and cleared out brush and trees where the foxes used
to den. Deer also wander up and down the ditch (Larimer County
Ditch 2.) Wildlife habitat was greatly reduced when the horse
pasture on Bennett was converted to 16 "bungalows." Geese used
to nest there. Fox played. Deer roamed. Hawks circled overhead
looking for prey. I have been here for 17 years. Nothing that has
been done in the name of "progress" has helped preserve wildlife.
It was an argument that fell on deaf ears at the meetings where the
developer proposed Bennett Bungalows. It is ironic that those who
now live in those houses are concerned about wildlife.
I have no problem with the plans for 1234 Prospect.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth G. Maloney
