Front Range Community College Project Narrative
March 30, 2006
The plan is designed to upgrade the existing gravel overflow parking lots, improve
traffic flow throughout the parking lots, and increase the number of parking paved
parking spaces available for FRCC students and campus visitors.
background
As shown in the construction plans, Lots 2,
3, 4 and 5 will be redesigned to include
additional handicap and motorcycle parking
and an internal drive to efficiently connect
the east and west parking areas near the
building.
To improve circulation at the main campus
entrance, the west entrance will be
redesigned to replace the existing curved tee
intersection. The Transfort bus stop will be
relocated onto Shields Avenue.
The proposed construction and rehabilitation of the parking lots will add 761 new
paved regular parking spaces at Lots 2 and 5. Eleven additional handicap spaces will
be constructed. Additional existing site areas will be utilized to construct the new
parking lots. Proposed Lot 2 will be located in a portion of the open field east of
Shields Street. This area is currently being utilized for overflow parking and will
provide 313 spaces. Lot 5 will be constructed as a permanent paved parking lot with
448 parking spaces.
